(03) Oxide and hydroxide minerals

Don’t confuse this type with oxygen-containing salt minerals. This is a compound formed by metal cations and certain non-metal cations and oxygen anions or hydroxide ions. More than 200 kinds have been found. They are widely distributed in the earth’s crust. It accounts for about 17% of the total weight of the earth’s crust.
